This page serves as a compilation of questions our customers most frequently ask with detailed answers for your convenience. Please note that some of these topics only pertain to wedding ceremonies and receptions.

What is your capacity?
The barn can accommodate approximately 200 guests in a seated/served format and 170 guest in a buffet/station format for a reception.

What is your “hold” policy?
We can hold one date for up to three days at no charge (starting the day you receive the contract from us.) At the end of those three days, we will either release the date if we don’t hear back from you, or we can reserve it for you with a returned and signed contract along with your deposit of 1/3 of the contract price.

Are other events scheduled on the same day?
We only host one event per day. We want our attention to be focused entirely on your event.

Do you cater?
No, but we do have a convenient prep area for the a approved caterer of your choice to work out of. We can provide a list of our approved caterers for you to choose from.  All food must be supplied by a licensed and insured vendor. All vendors who supply $5,000.00 or more of service for you must provide a certificate of liability insurance naming Harvest View Barn at Hershey Farms, LLC as an additional insured. This certificate must be provided to Harvest View Barn at least four weeks prior to your event.

May I act as my own vendor?
While we do not suggest this, you are more than welcome to be your own florist or DJ. If you decide to be your own florist, you will be expected to arrive with your work completed and you may not use our buildings or grounds as your workshop.

May we have a DJ or band?
Yes, but music, with the exception of music for the ceremony and cocktail hour, must be played inside the barn.

Is alcohol allowed?
Yes you may, however we do not have any insurance coverage for the use of alcohol and do not assume responsibility for its use on the property. If you choose to have alcohol for your wedding reception, you must coordinate that thru your caterer who has insurance coverage and can provide the bartenders. Alcohol service is limited a maximum of five hours. It is the responsibility of the host to ensure the safe departure of all guests from Harvest View Barn at Hershey Farms.

Is the barn handicapped-accessible?
Yes, our barn is equipped with a chair lift, which operates like an elevator. We offer handicapped-accessible restrooms on both levels.

Is parking provided?
Yes, parking is provided on-site. Guests will be directed to the proper parking locations by our attendant as they arrive. Vehicles may not be left overnight without permission.

May we set up or have access to the venue before our event begins?
Setup is allowed starting at 10:00 am on the day of your event.

Can we decorate?
Your Day of Coordinator will decorate for you.  If a ladder is needed you must use a licensed vendor.  Care must be given to not permanently damage or alter the building in any way.

Are candles allowed?
Flame candles are allowed during the “lighting of the candle” portion of a wedding ceremony. During all other times you may use battery operated or Hollowicks fuel cell candles. All burning candles need written approval from Harvest View Barn before use.

What happens if it rains?
If it rains, your wedding ceremony may be held inside the barn. We have capacity for up to 200 people indoors.

Are there rooms for the bridal parties to get ready?
Yes, the spacious remodeled farm house offers separate, tastefully appointed areas for the bride and groom and the wedding party, as well as family and friends.

When do we need to have everything out of the barn?
When the event ends, you must take all of your belongings with you. Anything left on-site will be considered trash. All rentals must be removed the day of the event except with specific permission.

Who is responsible for cleaning the barn?
All vendors are responsible for the removal of their belongings and trash.  Caterers must leave the prep area the way they found it and put all trash in our dumpsters.  Harvest View will clean the event space and the restrooms after you leave.

Are there any additional fees?
We offer a variety of items available for an additional charge.  Items includes a 42′ flat screen LED TV with stand;  whiskey barrels; and various lawn games.

What types of chairs are provided for my event?
Harvest View Barn provides luxurious dark mahogany chiavari chairs with black padded seats for your reception and the white resin padded folding chairs for the wedding ceremony.

Wedding planner.  We do require that you hire a professional event day coordinator to manage the details of  your wedding.  Our staff would be happy to recommend several to you or you can hire one of our coordinators for an additional fee.

When is my rehearsal time?
Your complimentary one-hour rehearsal time will be scheduled generally on the Thursday before your wedding day, unless a holiday or another event interferes with that.

Are fireworks or sparkler send-offs allowed?
We do allow fireworks by a licensed exclusive vendor.  Sparklers are allowed for outdoor use only.  All fireworks and sparklers need written approval from Harvest View before use.  We reserves the right to prohibit the use depending on weather or other conditions. Any damage or injury is the client’s responsibility.

Is it okay to invite children?
Children are welcome at Harvest View Barn. The surroundings at the venue do include some hazards. At no time should children be allowed to be unsupervised anywhere on the premises, especially near the pond. Guests who are bringing children to your event should be notified in advance that they will need to provide constant and vigilant supervision.
